Unlike some installments in Collectables' Golden Classics Edition series, Lynn Anderson's Golden Classics Edition is neither a proper hits collection nor an expanded version of one album. Instead, it contains the entirety of her 1970 album Rose Garden and its 1971 successor, You're My Man, augmented by four bonus tracks ("How Can I Unlove You," "Cry," "Top of the World," "What a Man, My Man Is"). This results in a disc that, in many ways, is better at capturing Anderson at her best than a hits collection, since it presents her at her peak as a recording artist. She had hits before and after these two albums, but she was at her best on these two records, and, when they're fleshed out with the mid-'70s bonus tracks, they result in a consistently enjoyable 26-track collection of mainstream, poppy country music from the early '70s, something that proves Anderson was more than a one-hit wonder.
